About me
My name is Steve Pease. The Northern suburbs of the Twin Cities in Minnesota is where I live.
Ten years ago, I started writing. Over the years, I’ve written several hundred articles for Hub Pages and the examiner. For Examiner, I wrote a column for the Twin Cities on Disc golf, one on Cycling in the Twin Cities, and one on Exercise and fitness for the Twin Cities.
I write on subjects I am passionate about, such as disc golf, gardening, exercise, photography, cycling, fishing, and topics that deal with Christian beliefs.
My father is a retired minister, and he has written many books. I have edited many of them and have them available on my site, which covers many topics of interest to Christians today. I have also written an Old Testament trivia book on my own.
I have been playing disc golf since 1978 and love the sport. The greatest thing about disc golf is that I’m still very competitive at age fifty-eight, and I frequently beat players much younger than me. Disc golf is a sport that you can play at almost any age if you can walk.
I have taken several hundred thousand pictures over the last 35 years and always try to improve my photography. My goal is always to take the big shots that I can. I want people to say wow when they look at my shots. I went through the photography course at the New York Institute of Photography many years ago. What I learned from the course and my years of experience were worth every dollar.
The key to being a talented photographer is to see things that most people don’t see or in a way that they don’t see. My favorite types of photography are landscape, portrait, animal, and infrared. I have shot several weddings and spent hundreds of hours exploring different places, looking for great things to take pictures of.
Fishing is another of my passions. I have been an avid angler since I was a kid. I have had two bass fishing boats, but I enjoy fishing in my kayak. Boating is another. I have a sit-inside old town kayak and a sit-on-top feel-free Moken 12 fishing kayak. I also have two old town canoes for going to the Boundary Waters wilderness area or just paddling around lakes in my area.
The hardest part about fishing from a kayak is trying to decide what not to take with me. As with most bass anglers, I have tons of equipment, and I always feel that I need to take it all with me, just in case. Kayak fishing has made me downsize just to make everything fit in my kayak.
I spend most of my fishing time catching bass and northern pike. But if I’m looking for a good meal, you can beat crappies and sunfish. I have spent most of my time fishing freshwater but have caught some saltwater fish. The biggest was a 380-pound bull shark off Key West, Florida 1985.
I have loved biking and exercising since I was in my early teens. I like to read nonfiction books to keep learning new things all the time. I want to share many things I have learned with you and help enrich your life. I want to pass on the knowledge I have learned over the years so others can also benefit from it.
I have done extensive research and a lot of experimenting with gardening and its different aspects. I grow flowers, vegetables, and microgreens. Microgreens are something new, but they are exciting and fun to experiment with. The most exciting thing is that you can go from seed to eating in less than two weeks. I have raised beds and in-ground beds. I also do a fair amount of grow bag gardening. It all is fun.
